Compensation: $85,000 - $105,000 + Variable Compensation
About the Role:
As our Senior Accountant, you will act as the right hand to our Director of Finance. You will own the General Ledger, manage our complex inventory flows, and build the financial discipline required for a high-growth DTC brand. This is a role for a hands-on CPA who loves the energy of a startup and is ready to graduate from "keeping the books" to "running the accounting function."
Roles & Responsibilities:

Month-End Close & Financial Operations:
- Own the Close: Lead the cycle month-end close process, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations are completed on a 10-day timeline.
- General Ledger: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger in QuickBooks Online, ensuring all revenue and expenses are coded accurately for departmental budget tracking.
- Cash: Cash: Perform weekly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple currencies and payment gateways (Shopify, Stripe, PayPal).
- Process Improvement: Move us away from manual data entry by optimizing our tech stack (Plooto, QBO, Shopify) and automating routine tasks.

Inventory & Cost Accounting:

Inventory Reconciliation: Lead the monthly reconciliation between our 3PL, our inventory system, and the general ledger to ensure stock accuracy.

Margin Analysis: Track and calculate landed costs (freight, duties, manufacturing) to ensure our gross margin reporting is accurate down to the SKU level.

Stock Control: Oversee the financial workflow for inventory adjustments, write-offs, and warranty returns.

Inventory Reconciliation: Lead the monthly reconciliation between our 3PL, our inventory system, and the general ledger to ensure stock accuracy.

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

Reporting: Prepare the preliminary monthly financial package (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) with variance analysis for the Director of Finance.

Tax Compliance: Manage the preparation and filing of Canadian sales tax (GST/HST/PST) and US Sales Tax (Nexus) returns.
- Audit Readiness: Lead the preparation of year-end working papers and serve as a key contact for external accountants during Review Engagements.

Reporting: Prepare the preliminary monthly financial package (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) with variance analysis for the Director of Finance.

Financial Forecasting:
- Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of the rolling forecast in Fathom, manage scenario analyses, and assist in preparing forecast reports for the Board of Directors, shareholders, and management.
- Accounts Payable:

AP Management: Oversee the full accounts payable cycle via Plooto, ensuring invoices are approved by department heads and paid on time to maintain vendor relationships.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designated along with 3+ years of experience in accounting in DTC, retail, apparel, or manufacturing.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Shopify.
- Experience with cross-border transactions and US Sales Tax compliance is highly valued.
- High attention to detail and an ability to meet tight deadlines when requested is essential.
- Experience working in a fast-paced or growing company environment is a plus.
