Junior Quality & Design Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities

As part of the R&D team, you will have the opportunity to help Stoko design and test its creations while building and maintaining a product quality system. You can expect to do many of the following:

 

Product Design & Integrity

  • Design and test durable and high-quality textile products and features, including Stoko support systems, seams, and fabric properties, with a strong focus on durability.

  • Occasionally work on hard goods, such as control dial integrations and tensioning systems. 

  • Verify product performance using Stoko’s in-house test equipment and third-party testing labs.

  • Collaborate with the Product Experience Lead to validate designs with end consumers.

Product Quality Program 

  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control processes for raw materials and finished products.

  • Schedule and coordinate inspections of finished goods from overseas manufacturers.  

  • Conduct warranty unit analysis to identify root causes of product failures and collaborate with manufacturing partners to improve product quality.

Test Equipment Development and Maintenance:

  • Design, build, test, and maintain test equipment, including tensile testers, cyclic testers, biofidelic test fixtures, and 3D printers.

  • Utilize a combination of software (MATLAB), electronics (soldering and circuit design), microcontrollers (Arduino), and mechanical engineering tools (SolidWorks & 3D printing) to build and maintain the equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of design processes, test procedures, and results.

  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to the team.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Engineering Physics Degree or equivalent. 

  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and mechanical design. 

  • P.Eng is an asset. 

  • Moderate knowledge in software programming (especially Arduino/C++ and MATLAB), and electronics. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of machining and rapid prototyping methods.

  • Experience with textiles or apparel is an asset. 

  • Experience with tensile testing is an asset.
